Salomon Rocker Review
When I’m faced with the question: which skis do I ride today? My most common answer is: the Rockers.
That’s because these boards are the best skis I’ve ever used. I’ve tested other big skis from most every other manufacturer, and I think this is the best shape. They have a huge amount of tip rocker and no tail rocker. This is good because when you want or need extra speed you can sit back and haul ass. That comes in handy when: the slope mellows out and you want to keep “long boarding” the pow, or when you ski a big line and your bombing the runout. Otherwise these puppies are super maneuverable, you just want to remember to stay forward on them. But with all that tip rocker these skis do 90% of the work for you. You can see the Rockers in action in my edit from the Levitation Project.
Cardiff Ridge – 3-16-10
This photo was shot by Jay Beyer. I was out the other morning with Steve Lloyd doing a little dawn patrol action and thought I’d ski this mini golf line that I’ve been noticing for the last few years. Jay and the Powder Whores were shooting Toledo at the same time so he had a nice view of my line. I have hit the cliff with the tree on top before but skiers right is actually a much better line, you just need some speed to clear the rocks. When my ski cut produced the slide I decided to wait and see what the extra snow would do to the slope. It didn’t cause any additional slides, so I skied my double. It was REALLY fun, but also reminded me of why I have not been onto any bigger lines this year.
Fast Wax for Skis & Boards
This is some slick shit people. When those boards start lagging, get a coat of this levitation wax melted deep into your bases. You’ll be hauling ass again in no time. I think you’ll be able to order it starting tomorrow – 2/18/10 here:

BYEP & Billy Poole Foundation
A group of us from SLC (as well as Bozeman & Boise) just finished up a super weekend of skiing in Big Sky, MT. We were skiing with the cool kids of the Big Sky Youth Empowerment Project, taking some extra time to remember Billy, and just appreciating the simple pleasures of being in the mountains.
I think that I can safely say that everyone had a great time and that we’ll all be back next year! Thanks to Big Sky for the tickets, The Levitation Project for the swag, and Bucks T-4 for the rooms. And a Big thanks to all the kids, mentors, and volunteers for making such a cool thing happen!
The Big LePowSki
