The Salomon Ghost

ghost1.JPG

Over the last couple of years Salomon has beenbusy designing a complete line of freeride specific equipment. One of my favorites, and one of the most needed in our industry, is the Ghost freeride boot. Until now, there has been a void fora comfortable high performance boot that caters to the needs of those who ski resorts andbackcountry (touring, hiking, sledding, or heli). Forthose users, theGhost offers convenience, safety, comfort, & performance.

The Ride

The thing that surprises most people about the Ghost is the stiffness: 120! Yes this boot is pretty stiff. The plastic of the lower however, feels a little bit softer. You’ll notice that I have surefoot foam liners in my Ghosts (I’ve been using foam liners for the last 7 years). Long story short: the Ghost skis as good as a world cup boot, period. Here’s a quick list of things you’ll love about the Ghost:

  • Dryness – with the full overlap and external gasket, the Ghosts are dry as a bone, even after stomping around in the snow all day.
  • Anti Slip – the sole is outfitted with rubber tread under the arch. Slippery stairs & icy boot packs are nothing.
  • Performance – the Ghost rides a lot like the Falcon Race. It doeshave a slightly bigger toe box.
  • Convenience – With only 2 buckles things just got a lot easier.
